Many things: Could be related to an ongoing inflammatory process, such as rheumatoid arthritis.  It can also signify a benign process, such as a monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance or mgus.  It can also suggest a malignant process if the protein is monoclonal; meaning only one protein type, such as igg.  Hope this helps.

In a sense: Sepsis is a reflection of an inflammatory process in the body and can affect every organ. It is usually caused by infection, but not always. Sepsis induces a catabolic state-that where the body is breaking down tissues and proteins. With proper treatment, the body will return to an anabolc state-building up again. How long this takes depends on severity of illness.

: It would be prudent to consult a nephrologist to exclude early kidney disease and to take preventive measures. Strenuous exercise alone should not reduce your GFR.

See a specialist: You don't tell me how you were found to have that high level. If you have no symptoms to go with that finding and other laboratory blood tests are normal, you probably have what is called monoclonal gammopathy. If you have symptoms or tests are affected, there are several possible diagnosis. For proper evaluation, see an immunologist or hematologist.

: Unless you have a known diagnosis of Multiple myeloma(do you or not?), I would interpret these tests to be normal right now.
Tell us more about your health....in other words why did you have the Urine tested for these light chains?

Good question!: Do you have an m-spike detected on your serum protein electrophoresis? If all blood work up is unremarkable and the only thing elevated is the gamma globulin alone- i don't think you need to see a hematologist. However not knowing the rest of the story and lack on information in regard to other blood work- i recommend you to ask this question to your pcp.  If m spike is detected- see hematologist.

: Your first round of blood tests showed elevated kappa free light chains and a high kappa/lambda ratio raising suspicion of a plasma cell dyscrasia seen in AL amyloidosis or multiple myeloma. Your creatinine of 1.5 was high. If you also had anemia &amp; elevated calcium I would favor a diagnosis of myeloma. However 6 months later results are within normal limits. ?A bone marrow biopsy in future
