Hold off: Psas can be elevated for many reasons,  including uti, prostatitis, and prostate cancer.   A psa of 300 is very high and very unusual.   It would be wise to have a repeat psa and if it is still elevated consider a repeat 12 -  16 core biopsy.   If prostate cancer is present,  testosterone therapy will worsen it.

: If your dad does not want surgery and prefer radiation therapy, he will be referred to a radiation oncologist who will discuss the radiation modalities so your dad can decide. Rad oncologist does not prescribe pills unless your dad wants radiation tx but oncologist wants to shrink the prostate first with hormon tx. Prostate cancer Gleason score 7 should be treated and your dad decides the Rx type.
