Prostate: I don't know why the prostate grows but I do know that you need a referral to a Urologist for evaluation and management.

Grows with aging: Prostate grows and grows with aging.It start getting enlarged around 40 and gets bigger and bigger and by the time you are 60.It start giving you symptoms of Urinary frequency and small stream etc.But in some it grows due to cancer.It can also get enlarged in young people due to inflammation due to infection called Prostatitis but after treatment returns to normal size.

Testosterone ...: The prostate grows as we age, probably due to the cumulative effect of male hormones (androgens) such as testosterone which men produce throughout their lives. The prostate is dependent on testosterone for growth, a fact we use in treatment of enlarged prostate with drugs such as Finasteride which blocks the conversion of testosterone to its active form
