Yes , no problem: Nanotechnology , good  you coined a nice name for laparoscopic surgery ,  now every thing being miniaturized . The synthetic mesh or graft , fibrous and collagen tissue grows into it  giving strength , after  couple of years will not even feel it. Rarely it can get infected , some ( very few ) will not tolerate get rejection type of reaction fortunately rare.

See your physician: If you have had recent surgery and you're now having systemic symptoms as you describe, you really need to contact your surgeon for further evaluation.  For example, an early infection could potentially cause the symptoms you are describing.

Should be fine: It will almost certainly be fine. I have seen women get pregnant after mesh ventral and umbilical hernia repair with a couple different techniques and mesh and they were fine. Both mother and baby. You will want to get the operative report and discuss with your OB however in the event you need a c-section. A smaller mesh done with the open technique may be bwtter for this . Hope this helps!

Canal is an opening,: not 2 sides, a passage way. Hernia literally means opening. If something additional to what normally passes through opening, then this situation is called a hernia. Hernia &quot;repair&quot; simply means reducing size/closing of the opening with the goal of blocking passage of additional tissue (fat, organ, etc.). Mesh is sometimes used to reinforce the tissue, if judged too weak, around the opening.

On the other hand, if it hasn't caused problems after 20+ years, the odds are in your favor.

Not long: Recovery from uncomplicated  inguinal hernia will be very brief , in less than 4 to 6 wks , that is the minimum  time that nature needs to lay down  the collagen fibers to complete the healing process , in mesh repair which  is tension free ,  can be active much earlier

Non-reactive: Mesh used for hernia repair does not cause an immune or allergic reaction.  Your body does respond to the mesh by forming scar tissue and sending inflammatory cells to the area. If this normal response is excessive, you may have pain at the site. If there is red skin, may be an infection. Best to have it checked by your surgeon if you're concerned. Hope this helps!
