Yes , no problem: Nanotechnology , good you coined a nice name for laparoscopic surgery , now every thing being miniaturized . The synthetic mesh or graft , fibrous and collagen tissue grows into it giving strength , after couple of years will not even feel it. Rarely it can get infected , some ( very few ) will not tolerate get rejection type of reaction fortunately rare.

Not yet: The majority of synthetic mesh for hernia repair are knitted in large sheets, then cut to size with a laser. This smooths the edges of the mesh. I am not aware of any special engineering regarding the mesh edge that uses a form of nanotechnology in the current products.
