Hematologist: I would start with your primary care physician. When i ask women if they "bruise easily" 95% say yes. Most bruising is not a blood problem, but a skin problem such as dry, thin skin. Some other skin conditions can cause this. Blood problems can include von willebrands disorder related to platelet or coagulation factor problems. Start with primary care, physical exam, and simple labs.

Search by location: One can search on healthtap (or on google, if a search on healthtap is not successful) for internal medicine and family medicine doctors in one's home area. Then, one can call some of the doctors to see if they are accepting new patients (usually depends on how full a doctor's practice is, on the prospective patient's insurance plan, and other issues...).

: Yes, that is the standard protocol. In some important cases, the specialist may call and discuss the case with the family doctor right away if he (she) wants to have some tests or procedure(s) done as soon as possible and then the consult report will be sent afterward.

Many specialist : Prefer a referral and refuse to see patients not referred, but others accept self referral.  I always want a primary care doctor to follow issues that I am not going to manage, and keep the pcp fully apprised of what and why I do things or recommend things.

Hep B surface Ab: Hepatitis B surface antibody can be present either due to exposure to the virus in the past or possibly to the vaccine. How to interpret it depends on the results of the rest of the hepatitis B profile and of the liver tests. Your doctor must want a gastroenterologist to interpret those.  I would recommend following through with that, if nothing else just for peace of mind. Good luck.

Osteopathic: If you see an osteopathic physician that uses manipulation you may be able to have treatment in the office that relieves your pain.  Other physicians to consider include pain management specialists, and spine surgeons. The latter two may both perform i ejections which may help.  I would first reccomendation conservative treatment with manipulation and physical therapy.

i have a positive lupus ban test but a negative ana test. my primary care doctor said i have sero negative lupus and told me not to see a specialist?

See a rheumatologist: A positive lupus band test on a skin biopsy suggests cutaneous lupus but not necessarily systemic lupus. See a rheumatologist. It is presumptuous for a primary care physician to tell you what he/she did.

A good start: If there is evidence of  inflammatory arthritis then you should see a rheumatologist. If the pcp is uncertain then the rheumatologist  can help in making the diagnosis and guiding the pcp on the correct  treatment program for you r care.

why do i need to see my primary doctor before a brow lift? the surgeon i talked with told me he would only do my brow lift after i'd seen my primary care doctor for written clearance. why?

For : For patients with various pre-existing medical conditions your surgeon may want you to obtain pre-operative clearance to make sure that your overall health is good enough for you to have elective brow lift surgery.
