i can't tast much for over a week.  was taking prilosec and xanax (alprazolam) have stopped both.  my symptoms are throat tightness and pain, gerd. no cold.

Never stop your meds: Never stop your meds w/u consulting your dr. First.Especially something like xanax (alprazolam) where you can experience withdrawl sx even seizures. Call your dr. Asap. Smoking can cause loss of taste.
Ask dr. About seeing a specialist if he/she cannot help.Dentist, ENT ? But i think the smoking is the problem perhaps along with alcohol.Later and xanax (alprazolam) not good anyway! also therapy not psych meds!good GI w/u.

how long after taking xanax do i have to wait to take my prilosec?

: There are no drug interactions between xanax and prilosec. They may be taken together. However, if you have previously had side effects with these medications or are concerned about them, take the prilosec first, and you can take the xanax 1.5 to 3 hours later (xanax takes longer to clear the system). Always inform and inquire concerns with your prescribing provider about all medications you take

need some docs opinions- which birth control type do you think is best in terms of drug interactions w/prilosec, xanax, (alprazolam) & zoloft? can i even use it?

Am unaware of issues: With any form of oral contraception and the medications listed.  The decision should be based on your lifestyle issues, preferences, potential side effects and cost.  Your family physician or an ob/gyn (or np/pa-c, as the case may be) can better advise you.  It is probably going to be more of an issue in terms of other habits, particularly smoking.  If you smoke cigarettes, ocps are more risky.

i take xanax (alprazolam) xr 1mg and celexa 10mg. just started celexa yesterday. can i take tums with this combination. what about 20mg of omeprazole?

Caution!: Omeprazole raises the blood levels of Celexa which can lead to serious side effects. In general the highest dose of Celexa while on Omeprazole is 20mg per day.  You really need to ask your doctor or prescriber to guide you as I do not know enough about your general health. 
As far as alternating xanax (alprazolam) and Celexa my opinion is that this is not a good idea.  Celexa is taken every day.

my doctor prescribed 40mg omeprazole in the morning. also, he prescribed celexa 20mg and xanax (alprazolam) xr 1mg in the evening. any thoughts as to the safety of this combination? i get anxiety taking drugs.

No big prob: See no significant risks for interactions.  The drugs you were given for the most part are for anxiety.

my doctor prescribed prozac 20 mg, xanax .25 usually take half when needed. i've had bad heartburn. is it okay to take omeprazole also as i have been.

Possible.: Prozac, xanax and Prilosec can all interact with each other in the liver. However Prozac and xanax interact with each other too. Adding Prilosec makes the chance of interaction higher. However, alot of people take this and have no troubles. Perhaps if this is for short term problem a simple anti-acid may work just as well and have no side effects.

: Yes. These drugs do not interact with one another. (You can easily check interactions between these or any other drugs yourself. Google "drug interaction" to find several websites where you can enter two or more drug names to check out their effectiveness and safety when taken together.)

Expired Med Use: Pharmaceutical manufacturers issue expiration dates that insures potency, use after that date, there is no guarantee that there is sufficient medication to control your symptoms.

Prilosec: Well tolerated yes may cause diarrhea in some prolonged use can contribute to osteoporosis. Can mask serious disease like cancer.

Accepted Answer

ANXIETY: Xanax (alprazolam) is usefulin reducing anxiety. However, if anxiety is a problem, the cause of the problem is important -because when you know how something works and why,  you can dosomething about it. Work out what this is about in therapy and maybe you won't need the xanax (alprazolam).
