Ear pressure: Ear pressure is often a factor of swelling or dysfunction of your eustachian tube, the none tin between your ears and the back of your throat.  If you have an infection or allergies that can affect how your eustachian tube opens to equalize the pressure behind your eardrum and the outside air pressure.

The popping that occurs when one goes in an airplane is the eustachian tube opening to equalize ear pressure. When pressures differ, the ear drum can be sucked in or bulge out. With this fluid can accumulate causing an otitis media.

ETD: It sounds like you are having trouble equalizing the pressure in your middle ear. This often creates a fullness, like you want to pop or clear your ears. It is called eustachian tube dysfunction (etd). Decongestant either sprayed into the nose or taken orally can alleviate this problem. Sometimes your doctor needs to examine this and treat with other rx if no success with otc rx.

It depends: This could be due to cerumen impaction or the accumulation of fluid in your middle ear - chronic serous otitis.  Do you have hearing loss?  Do you have associated dizziness?  Do you have balance issues?  Other ear diseases are associated with fullness but a qualified ear specialist would be the person to see in your case.

A few things: You can try using oxymetazoline nose spray for 1-2 days to decongest the eustachian tube.  Try also pinching your nose and blowing (bearing down) to try to pop your ears.  It should go away over time, but you should see a doctor if it hurts, or hearing worsens.
