Hard to assess: This often requires a full review of your history/exam &amp; some tests to sort out. Throwing pain medicines at it just delays assessment. The possibilities range from indigestion to stomach cancer &amp; many things in between. When it interferes with your activities enough have it evaluated.

Lifestyle mods: Watch out for spicy and acidic foods (lemons, oranges, tomatoes).  Don't gorge at meals - eat smaller, but more frequent meals.  Avoid exercise and lying down right after eating or drinking.  Avoid alcohol (can cause stomach irritation), caffeine and tobacco.   If it's not improving on it's own, it's something you should see your doctor about.  Good luck!

hi. i've had severe stomach cramps for 3 days. i have taken medication for the cramps that are not really helping. the pain is above my navel and after the pain i get dizzy. on a empty stomach it's there but on a full stomach it's much worse.

Doctor can evaluate: Many things are in the upper abdomen:  stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, large intestine, abdominal muscles, etc...  An exam by a primary care doctor can help figure it out. Pain in the right upper abdomen, especially with symptoms that occur after eating, can be due to gallstones or other gall bladder disease. Stomach flu, pancreatitis, stomach ulcers... are also possible.

is topical ketoconazole creme safer than tablets? and is it a good choice for otc resistant tinea corporis? i'm not comfortable taking the tablets and 2 doses caused stomach cramps. please advice safest and best drug for this problem! thank you !!!

Safer=yes: Any drug applied to the skin surface will be less likely to trigger systemic side effects since it is not absorbed into the blood in significant amounts. The best drug is the one that works, which will need a proper trial to find in a resistant condition.

Gastritis?: The list of possibilities is way too long to review here. More information is needed. It could be something as simple as a stomach virus, or acute food poisoning, pregnancy, etc. Is anyone else sick? Do you have a fever? Is there diarrhea? And you rashes? my son has been on amoxicillin and now has stomach cramps, horrendous wind both ends. when will this go away he's in agony ?

Likely when Ab : Is finished. But sometimes can persist and stool needs to be tested. Give him probiotics and yogurt to maintain his normal bowel flora. Talk to your doctor to see if the antibiotics are necessary or could be adjusted. Sorry for his pain. Tylenol (acetaminophen) might help. All the best.
