At end of pill pack: How long have you been on ocps? To avoid irregular bleeding, i would finish your pack and then if ready to get pregnant, do not start the new pack.
How long it will take to get pregnant is very variable - you could get pregnant next month or take 1year. On avg it takes ~6 months if on pills for &gt;2 yrs.

Body weight: is very important.  Try to get your weight into the normal range (if not already).  Exercise and diet management are essential.  Also, managing stress.

Get healthy!: In general, anything you can do to optimize your general health will increase your chances for an easy/healthy conception and pregnancy. Eat right, exercise, minimize tobacco or other substances (alcohol ok in moderation). Start taking a prenatal vitamin with at least 800mcg of Folic Acid to reduce risk of birth defects. And ask your doctor to check that youre immune to varicella and rubella.

Folic acid: The best thing you can do is to start taking a vitamin with Folic Acid before you are pregnant. You should also discuss any drugs you are on with your ob, and make sure any medical problems are under control.

Not true: If there is no genetic birth defect one is worried about, that would only affect a baby girl or only affect a baby boy, then the gender of each baby shall be by chance, not by choice.  At this time, it is not considered ethical to select the gender of a baby.  A main reason is that we do not want people to value girls more than boys, nor boys more than girls, as the goal is to treat both equally.
