Chest pain :  I would start going to my primary care doctor. A precordial syndrome is not associated with a concerning syndrome. It can be treated at times with manipulation of the ribs.

I bet you're right: Used to just be "the stitch". Common. This pathologist believes it's caused by the pleura folding over on itself, based on my experience that maximally inflating the lungs relieves it immediately. If this is knife-like and worst when your breathe in, you're called it right. If it ever really takes your breath away or otherwise doesn't seem trivial, see your physician. Glad you're working out.

Type and location: what is the character of your pain? does it travel to center of chest and down arms/shoulders? Do you have shortnerss of breath or pain on breathing? What is the intensity of your pain ( mild, moderate or severe)?  Have you had a cardiology exam and testing? I suggrest immediate ER evaluation or UC clinic exam and testing.
