Overreaction: You did not list prior meds but I would guess you have many options left. In addition, while Actemra (tocilizumab) can be used alone it works best when combined with methotrexate or Arava.

Depends: Some rheumatologist s recommend doing nothing if the disease is not active.  However for active disease the only reliable treatment is with medication.

Ask your doc.: Your rheumatologist chose hydroxychloroquine as a treatment because she/he felt it was the best choice for you, based on your symptoms and overall health condition. However, not all medications work the same way in everyone. How long you have been taking it?  This medication can take from 1 to 6 months to work. Call your doctor and tell him/her you are worse.  He/she needs to know that.

Not a good idea.: The anabolic steroids are not a good idea. Your system is highly stimulated already with an autoimmune disease. There is no sense in adding more chemicals for this. And sometimes people are already on steroids for the RA. If you are on DMARDS I would not add to the mix with anabolic steroids.
