Consult your MD: A lot more needs to be discussed about your new-onset insomnia. 

There seems to be no chronological correlation between your surgery and insomnia. 

Please discuss it with your primary md and mention any additional stressors, any new ideas related to prior surgery, any changes in family/environment, any other medical symptoms and any other information that could help md to help you.

: We dont know what surgery. But in general if it is not from pain then you can try taking OTC pill for insomnia for a few days to break the cycle. If that does not work pl see your MD

is it possible to contract sporadic fatal insomnia from a surgery?

Rarely: Most major surgical procedures done under general anesthesia have risks, which include but are not limited to  death ("fatal insomnia"), and other complications particularl to the procedure in question. Death is generally rare to encounter considering the volume of surgeries performed.

ever since having surgery , i have had extreme insomnia i'm maybe sleeping 2 hours a night if that . is this normal ?

Please get treated: For your insomnia.  Start w/your doc.  I see that you have several health conditions.  They may be generating the sleep problem.  Sleep deprivation will make everything else seem worse.  Peace and good health.  Clinical hypnosis and other stress management techniques can help.

Sleep apnea: You might be suffering from obstructive sleep apnea . You need sleep study done by a sleep disorders physician.

Difficult to know: insomnia can occur with depression, worry, chronic pain, acute pain, congestive heart failure, caffeine or as a medication side effect. It can occur if there is reversal of the normal sleep wake cycle (taking naps in the daytime then up at night) Sometimes confusional states can lead to insomnia ( eg, urinary track infection in someone with pre-existing brain dysfunction or a degenerative state)

hello i recently had retinal detachment surgery 8 days ago, my question is im a medical patient in michigan. i have really bad insomnia . i have a bubble in my eye but no buckle and i only have to face down for sleep. would edibles affect my results?

: Head positioning is very important following retinal detachment repair. Edibles per se won't affect the prognosis so long as you are able to maintain the head down positioning.

my septoplasty was 12 days ago. can i use the budesonide i was rx'd by my allergist prior to surgery (mixed with my saline nasal rinse), or use flonase? my breathing has degraded from 1st day post-surgery, & i'm having great difficulty sleeping?

: Putting anything your nose soon after septoplasty should be after consulting with your ENT surgeon . Pl do so.

Allergic reaction: Hives can be related to an early allergic reaction to one of your new medications. After surgery you likely have narcotic pain medications, sedative, antibiotic and others. Okay to call your pharmacy about possible allergic reaction to any new medication. Other possibilities exist, so call in to your surgery team as well.

Post op: Lots of causes possible. Anemia, dry, vasodilation, fever, pain and more.
