Sensitive skin: I have read that some patients with dengue fever are left with very sensitive skin. Moisturizing frequently should help, but check with your doctor.

Not common: After any viral illness, including dengue, you can have a flare up of a rash. Usuallly it will fade over weeks. Over the counter Hydrocortisone may be helpful. If the rash persists, see your doctor to get stronger medication to help it go away.

Itching?: Itching can happen with or without dengue, so itching does not confirm nor deny dengue. Dengue testing is of 2 types:  antibody testing or PCR testing. Antibody testing looks for one's immune system's response to the virus (one's body makes antibodies against the virus). PCR testing looks for actual pieces of virus material, such as the RNA genetic material in the virus.

Of course: Yes, you need to worry. See a Dr if you can. Dengue is called dengue FEVER because a prominent feature is high FEVER. Do you have a fever?  You should be seen for the "bad rash" in any case.

Viral infection?: Your symptoms are symptoms of a viral infection- any one of many, many viruses. At your age, HIV is one of these.

With SMIA negative, you DONT have HIV (at least not until next sexual encounter)

Carry a copy of your last result with you to the next doctor appointment
