Investigate: Nerve damage to the peripheral nerves can cause this even if the thyroid is normal. Also certain allergic reactions could give this symptom, or a metabolic disorder. Would continue to have it evaluated by your primary care doctor.

No sure what part of: your ear hurts. One may have an external ear infection - otitis media which may present with discharge. One may have an infected cyst- would likely be tender to palpation. Middle ear infection is also a source of pain. Your physician can likely determine the cause of your pain. Take care.

Doubt thyroid: Reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside. A tender thyroid suggests DeQuervain's but burning / paresthesias less so. Look for some other cause of your illness. I believe we've met before -- Remember Sjogren's and Hashimoto's as causes of CNS vasculitis / myelin loss. Good luck on continuing workup.

Be not afraid: This could be your thyroid or any number of other problems like a sore throat or muscular neck pain. If you know you have thyroid problems you need to get this checked out right away. Start by calling your regular doctor. If you are feeling that badly go to the ER. We don't bite!

im 38 yo and i recently had a non cancerous tumor removed off of my thyroid. i have burning pain all over my body; i thought the tumor was causing the pain but since it's been removed i still have the pain. what could be causing my pain? i'm on oxy?

: Do you have hypothyroidism? If there are no issues with your thyroid function, you may want to be seen by a neurologist to see if there is any neurologic basis to your pain. That would be a reasonable next step if this pain is not getting better. Good luck to you1

i have a constant burning sensation in my trachea/thyroid area. vomiting helped relieve the pain and allowed me to sleep but i woke up to the burning pain again. should i be worried about this?

: The esophagus may be involved rather than the airway. Discuss whether you have GERD or esophagitis with your physician. A PPI medication may be helpful. Avoid spicy foods, have yogurt daily, avoid excessive caffeine and eating less than two hours pre bedtime.  Have a COVID-19 screening test and vaccination as indicated. Watch for signs of bleeding, pain and fever.

Maybe (not) . . .: It might also be due to your oral antihistamine or seroxat (paroxetine). Lots of other possible reasons. New soaps/lotions/detergents? New clothing? Recent travel or camping? Bottom line: go see your doctor & tell him/her about your concerns. Also be sure to give timeline as to when rash started relative to any of above, eg new bottle of medications, perhaps due to switch in generic manufacturers.

Get tested!: Hi. I hate to sound trite, but tell your dad to have his thyroid function TESTED! It's easy! He can talk with his doctor about symptoms &amp; family history of thyroid disease. The doc will test the appropriate labs, and then you'll know! Bear in mind, NO symptoms are specific for thyroid disease, and your suspicion that he might have a thyroid problem could be due to non-thyroid issues.
