Totally different: It is normal for a small cyst to develop on the ovaries from time to time.  Most resolve in 6-8 weeks on their own and the discomfort can be controlled with ibuprofen. Pcos is totally different. These are multiple tiny cysts throughout the ovary. The main problem being weight gain, lack of periods and abnormal hair growth. The ovarian cysts are a side effect of the hormonal imbalance with pcos.

Different cysts: Polycystic ovaries contain many very small follicles - "cysts." these are less than 1cm, and related to anovulation and hormone alterations. Ovarian cysts would normally be 2cm or larger, may happen after ovulation, or be related to some type of ovarian tumor, endometriosis, or other reasons.

Depends: Ovarian cysts and pcos are not the same thing- a cyst is a fluid filled mass growing from the ovary. If large enough, may need observation or even surgical intervention. Pcos is an endocrine disorder with a wide range of presenting signs and symptoms and management strategies. Get clarity from your doc and proceed accordingly. Btw, i've had great responses to chinese med from some of my pcos pts.

No.: Ovaries having cysts is part of the syndrome.  There are some medical conditions that can mimic some of the symptoms of PCOS, such as metabolic syndrome.  A complete history and workup would aid in identifying this.

Fever: Fever is not normal, particularly for a 2 year period, but single temperature recordings are not necessarily helpful. Keep a careful record of temps and the times taken 4 times a day and add in any other symptoms to the list and take with you to a doctor. Perhaps an infectious diseases expert.

No: That would be like saying that pimples cause acne.  Complex ovarian cysts may be one of several manifestations of polycystic ovarian syndrome (pco).  Others can include few (or no) periods, hair growth on the face/body, weight gain, dark patches on the neck and underarms, and higher blood sugars.

i am 25 and i weigh 51kg i have been diagnosed with a 13x13 multiloculated cyst with internal echoes and irregular thick walled seen emanating from the pelvis  . how possible is it that it is malignant or polycystic ovarian syndrome?

i had an polycystic ovarian cyst so i had an surgery 2 years back so my one ovary and fallopian tube is removed..i gained weight.is there any risk in future..can any problem will occur in future?

Future symptoms : If you experienced ovarian torsion due to a large cyst it may occur in the remaining ovary. The best you can do is be aware of the symptoms and present immediately for care if they occur so you can get the ultrasound +/- CT scan if needed. ACOG found weight loss can help you maintain menstrual regularity and avoid diabetes in future. Follow closely with MD to avoid metabolic complications.

With treatment : They are only slightly decreased if you get proper treatment. All in all it is just somewhat harder but very possible. Hope this helps.
