Once formed, they may be resorbed or persist.  They may also become inflammed and/or infected depending on many factors.If it bothers you, then removal may be the answer.  Unfortunately, there is no way to know how long any of these may take.

The causes are not know but they can be due to trauma, or occur naturally.  They can sometimes disappear by themselves but more often get bigger and can get infected.  We treat them when they cause problems. If infected, antibiotics, if painful or growing, removal.

Maybe: Cysts will rupture and leak pus like material.  They unfortunately have a core and need to have that surgically removed.  If on long term antibiotics they sometimes will heal up without surgical removal.  It also depends where the cyst is located,

Superfast healing: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.

Bartholin's: It depends?  Was it infected?  Drained?  Did you have a catheter?   Sometimes they never resolve, and other times, they resolve spontaneously over time.  So that is a difficult question to answer without further information.

In your thyroid?: Regardless of location, the answer is probably "no."  and if your personal physician isn't concerned about it, i would not be either. If it's suggested you have it aspirated for diagnosis, please go ahead and have it done.
