There are two ways around this:

1: Increase your insulin bit by bit for a while.

3: Exercise as regularly as you can.

4: Work your way to needing less insulin.

Depends upon how: Strong your family history of diabetes is and how old you are (more of a potential problem as you get older). It can happen quickly (several months or less) with any significant weight gain, or other conditions such as corticosteroids, severe infection, surgery, certain medications, etc. People remain Insulin resistant for 5-15 years before true diabetes develops, but it is a natural progression.

No absolue way: Hi. There is no simple test for this. Type 2's are classically thought of as insulin resistant, although I have plenty of type 1's who are insulin resistant (obese, sedentary, glucose toxicity, etc). Type 2's usually require at least 1 unit/kg/24 hours (and often more). There is an equation called the homeostatic model assessment (HOMA) which can assess insulin resistance. Bottom line is, CONTROL!

Severe ins resistanc: Severe Insulin resistance (IR) requiring U500 Insulin is more and more common.  There are genetic forms of IR (eg. Insulin receptor defects, lipodystrophy), but these are rare.  Talk to your endocrinologist.  Is there something causing IR (eg. steroids, infection, inflammation).  Diet/weight loss is probably the most important factor now.

: No, it does not necessarily means insulin resistance is present at your age. HbA1C put you in the category of glucose intolerance or prediabetes mellitus. Insulin resistance may or may not present in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

No: All  of people with diabetes type 2, have insulin resistance , but to have Clinical diagnosis of diabetes needs fasting blood sugar of 126 or above .a lot if people may have insulin resistance now but it will take them a while to develope the clinical diagnosis of diabetes. It is safe to say that the majority of over weight people have insulin resistance but not all have diabetes type 2.

Depends: The answer depends on the individual's characteristics and circumstances.  Some people need Insulin right away while others might never need to be on Insulin and can be on orals forever.  In general, the more weight you lose, the more active you are, the less likely you will need Insulin as your sole treatment.

Yes: Pregnancy is always a possibly if you are a woman of child bearing age who has a uterus and ovaries, and is having unprotected sex. Diabetes/ Insulin resitance in pregnancy is a serious condition that needs attention from an ob/gyn in the first trimester.

A diet to: Reduce Insulin resistance needs to restrict calories to below what you burn up with activity. That's basically a diet for someone with Insulin resistance, prediabetes or diabetes, but there may be more specifics needed as you go further, due to blood pressure, lipids, kidney disease, etc.
