Not neccessary: If the pneunomia is treated and the cavitary lesion goes away on shorterm follow up then you are good.  However, if the lesion persist then further diagnostic test is needed.  Please follow up with your doctor closely on this matter.

Know your rights: A person has a right to know when treatment is unlikely to return them to a happy life, . Insist on being given the facts. I cannot make the decision for you, but i would not allow myself to be intubated if i already carried a diagnosis of lung cancer. But it's just possible that this person has been operated recently for possible cure. Then there's a fair hope. Autonomy rules.

Why do you ask?: i am glad it is gone. I would trust the imaging specialist especially if there are two films without cancer after the pneumonia is gone.

Possible: But the pneumonia density can obscure, or be distal to a cancer.
Usually follow up x-rays or ct after acute pneumonia clears can be helpful.

Yes: This is a common way for lung cancer to present. A biopsy will tell for sure. I am glad you are there for your mother at this challenging time.

Must ask: You would have to specifically ask the nurse and attending physician/s.  There can be multiple reasons to remove tubes and drains.  The practices, protocols, and indications will be patient/case and physician specific. Best wishes and hope your father gets well.

Normal: This sounds like a description of the negative findings on a chest x-ray.  Pa refers to the way the x-ray was taken.  Tbc refers to tuberculosis.  In other words no abnormalities found - a normal chest x-ray.

80 yrs old diagnosed with non small lung cancer (local), developed pneumonia after the first  carboplatin gemcitabine treatment. is it treatable?

Yes: Antibiotics are usually very successful to treat  many pneumonias. Patients with lung cancer may be more complex to treat or may require longer treatment especially if the cancer blocks the airways  which are needed to clear the pneumonia.
