does mental health have anything to do with how smart you are?

Accepted Answer

Yes it does but -: Maybe in ways you may not have thought. Understanding problems may come more readily and so may solutions because you are quick to get the ideas that mental health diagnosis and treatment are based on. That makes sense. What doesn't make sense is how many very intelligent people have mental disorders and either don't know it  or believe they are immune to such a thing & don't do anything about it.

Try looking online: Years ago, listings were available only in printed form. By the turn of the century, lists had become available online everywhere. Now, some lists are only online, and no longer printed. County medical societies (or other local medical societies), hospitals, and insurance companies usually list doctors by name, group, insurance plans, and location. The better websites have "Find-a-Doctor" pages.

my bed is next to a bunch of wires that are plugged in (cable, router, etc). is this bad for my health if i'm sleeping next to these wires nightly?

Electrosmog: The human body is sensitive to very low frequency electromagnetic fields. Some people are more sensitive than others. If you can move your bed, I would advice it.

any health benefits of drinking "smart water"?

No. Lots of sugar.: Smart water *sounds* like it's healthy but it's not. One bottle has 7 teaspoons of sugar, even more than 12 oz bottle of coca cola [though i'm not saying that you should drink coke instead]. Plain water is healthiest. Crave flavor? Add a slice of lemon, lime, orange or cucumber. Make your own iced tea [flavored green tea or herbal tea]. Only thing smart about it: makes your pocketbook smart. Ow.

Call the plan!: Most of the docs participating in this free forum are in the US and don't know what the plans in different countries allow.  Call the plan customer service department and ask them.  Your GP may also know the answer to this question.

applied for a non-emergency medical transportation job, but now i am thinking about not taking the job as i will constantly be putting my health at risk from novel coronavirus. smart or too paranoid?

See below:  risk for contracting the virus depending upon individual factors (not yet clear-genetics etc.) but more importanly it depends upon the amount of virus that you are exposed to - If your job puts you in close quarters with a infected person, this would increase you chance of getting the virus - masks limit transmission of the virus, but do not prevent it - you are not paranoid - the risks are real

i sleep overnight while talking with my girlfriend with earphones plugged in. we shut our calls in morning. is it bad for her or my health?

No: As long as the volume is not too loud and you don't roll onto them and injure your ear I do not see any medical issue or problem with what you are doing. Although I personally would find it hard to sleep with headphones on. Hope this was helpful. Best of luck. Dr. R

Yes: Yes, it's possible to have a meconium plug and not a serious condition like cystic fibrosis or bowel disease, but it's best to have the testing done to be sure.

Mucus: It appears that there was a mucus plug impacted on your uvula and irritation/inflammation occurred when it was pulled off.  If bleeding and/nonhealing of the uvula persists, consult an otolaryngologist for treatment and in the meantime, bathe the uvula area with cold water  which helps.However if brisk bleeding continues head to the hospital emergency room where urgent treatment can be given

my ears have been plugged (never really went away) since last may! if i clean my ears then bright yellow wax comes out-how do i hear fully hear again?

Professional help: You should never put anything smaller than your elbow into your ear.  You need professional help yo clean the wax out of your ears.  You can do serious damage working blind.  Please call you GP or an ENT for an appointment.  You'll be glad you did, and a lot safer.
