my daughter, maya, was trying to take her earrings out.  she got the earring out but couldn't get the back out.  the backing was in her ear, stuck inside! it was a plastic clear back and i just pulled it out.  do i take her to doctor in am?

If it looks infected: You may just want to use some warm moist towels in the area where it was stuck and give her some Motrin and if you have some antiseptic cream like Neosporin clean the area with just warm water dry it then use the cream for night and let it be exposed to air and in the morning if the area looks swollen and red yes take her to doctor for an antibiotic

1st see plastic surg: You should first see one or more plastic surgeons who do free consultations. They will examine you and tell you what can be done and the cost involved. Please tell them if you can not afford the charges. They might lower the charges.

Yes: Plastic ear speculums should be cleansed/sterilized in between patients.

will wearing a plastic retainer in ear during surgery be problematic?

Accepted Answer

Sure .... but why?: Unless you are having ear surgery, there should be no problem with wearing a plastic retainer, for whatever reason, during surgery.  If it has metal components, you may be asked to remove it to avoid the highly unlikely (but possible) chance of electrical currents used to seal blood vessels causing a burn on your ear at the site of that metal.  Let your surgeon & anesthesia folks know.  Good luck!

when adjusting plastic glasses frames, do you bend the ear pieces straight down? or do you curve them inwards?

the nose piece is for changing the height/angle of the frames.

Ear popping : An audible pop in the ear could be caused by the eustachian tube opening suddenly, causing a pressure differential in the middle ear,  which you hear as a pop. Another common source of popping in the ear can be the jaw popping with opening the mouth,  typically.  If this keeps happening, you may need to see a doctor to evaluate this and probably an ENT would be best.

Preauricular surgery: In the hands of a qualified plastic surgeon, removal of these structures should pose no health threats.  Be prepared to wait until your baby is much older to have procedures performed.
