13week us says posterior placenta low lying nuchal thickness 1.5mm dr. advised downsyn screen blood test. very afraid. may my baby have any disorder?

Nuchal thickness: Everyone gets offered the quad test screening for down's, trisomy 18 and spina bifida.  Its actually a very good test.  An increased nuchal thickness is associated with increase risk of Down's syndrome, but usually other things are seen with it.  A cell free DNA test may be a good one to check.

23 weeks pregnant with anterior placenta low and may have diabetes also but not sure yet. need to do the test and we will see but i am stressed! ?

Accepted Answer

Pregnant: first the low anterior placenta may move up as the pregnancy progresses.  As for the glucose tolerance test don't worry and stress till you find out the results.  Even if positive you may only need to make some dietary changes and gestational diabetes can usually be handled fairly easy.

33+ wks with breech: With a breech presentation, your ob provider could turn the fetus into a vertex, making the likelihood of a vaginal delivery increase. Most would choose to elect induction after "version" of the fetus to vertex at about 39 weeks of pregnancy. Low lying placenta does not affect potential for vaginal delivery.  If the fetus is not converted to a "head down" position, a C/S is likely the safest.

Always: A chance, if you have placenta previa, which I believe you describe please follow the advice of your OB because this can be a dangerous situation, but not always! Don't give up, just be careful!

Accepted Answer

No.: Placentation is not predictable and does not correlate with prior pregnancies, with the exception of placenta previa +/- accreta, which tends to recur. Your 20 week sonogram will establish placentation with great accuracy. Good luck!

Probably from you: The bleeding that occurs in situations of a low lying placenta is usually from you.

Normal: This is a common finding and the placenta will be higher in position as pregnancy progresses. Always good to check with your obstetrician with these kinds of concerns.

Uterus grows: A low lying placenta at 4 months is something to monitor but not something to panic about. The placenta does not actually move but as the uterus grows the placenta will then be the normal position. It is too early in the pregnancy to be thinking about a C-section for low lying placentas. The majority of these will be resolved on later sonograms.

placenta was low, in 12 weeks now it 2 inches moved upward in 16 weeks can my wife have orgasm, is it safe to have orgasm in this state ?

Pregnancy and orgasm: The lie of the placenta has nothing to do with the ability to achieve orgasm. It naturally moves up the uterine wall away from the os. Your wife may get normal orgasm and it won't affect her placenta, pregnancy or her baby.

can you tell me about fetus cephalic presentation and placenta anterior low lying will i deliver before my due date?

Accepted Answer

All normal: Fetus in the cephalic presentation just means the baby is head down.  The placenta is on the front wall of the uterus which is normal and it is low on that wall instead of high on the wall.  None of these things should lead to early delivery.  Good luck!
