i was found to have a pituitary adenoma after looking for cause of seizure in dec. are these common? treatment? mine is 7x9x9m. have headaches.

Not uncommon: There are a variety of different adenomas, and some secrete hormones and others are inactive.  Biggest issue is stability as growth can affect vision, and may need extraction if it gets bigger.  This is neither the cause of your seizures or headaches per se, based upon your description

Ischemia. : Monocular ischemia most likely causes shots a in one eye.  Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) and pituitary adenoma causes symmetrical bilateral schotoma.

Adenoma: The word "tumor" means "a lump".  A "tumor" is not necessarily a cancer (which is a tumor that spreads).  A pituitary adenoma is a tumor, but it is almost never a cancer.

No: Memory loss is not a symptom of a pituitary adenoma.  Even if a pituitary adenoma was causing abnormal production of certain hormones from the pituitary gland, memory loss would not result.

TMD: There are over 300 different kinds of headaches, and treatment depends on symptoms  it can range from a bite guard to different medicines.
  A headache specialist, or dentist who treats headaches may be able to help, or write back with more symptoms.

how accurate are blood pregnancy tests when you have a pituitary adenoma?

Very accurate: The pituitary adenoma will not decrease the accuracy of the blood pregnancy tests unless it is lh the adenoma is secreting, which is very rare. Most pituitary adenomas secrete prolactin, which will not interfere with a blood pregnancy test.

i got diagnosed with a 5mm pituitary adenoma (non functioning) 2 years ago, now they say it can't be seen on an mri yet i still have my symptoms,  like migraines often, constant headache and sickness. help?!

Accepted Answer

May not be related: a 5mm adenoma may not be the cause of your migraine. Please consult your PCP for an examination and appropriate migraine medication.

can mri interrupt ovulation? got an mri (to check for pituitary adenoma) on cd 11. no adenoma found. been testing for lh spike. line was darker on cd 12, but never got dark enough to indicate spike. lighter today, at cd 15 which is unusual for me?

Accepted Answer

: I would suspect stress due to MRI and its anticipated result may disrupt the hormone cycle and ovulation rather than the MRI by itself.
