what kind of exercises / treatment is involved in physiotherapy / physical therapy for neck pain?

Neck pain: 1. Temperature modality used to relax muscle and decrease pain.  Electric stimulants, tens unit use and altrasound application belong to this. 
2. Passive range of motion, including cervical stretch as tolerate to relax muscle and decrease the nerve root irritation. 
3. Neck muscle strengthening exercise with  cautions  of not causing more pain.

Neck pain: If you have tried and failed conservative treatments then the next step is imaging studies. Your treating physician will make a determination on this.

i have neck pain really bad, all the time from an accident. physical therapy doesn't help.. nothing does. is there surgery available? what to do?!

Try alternatives: Before trying to do surgery i would recommend seeing a chiropractor and if that doesn't work try doing yoga. I would try all of your alternatives before doing surgery.

daughter 17yr, getting chronic neck pain for past 6mon, vit d was 10, and now 50, still gets pain and does physical therapy. any underlying problem?

Seek Spine Physician: Although your daughter may be young, if she is active in sports, cheerleading or gymnastics there may be a chronic injury she is dealing with.  I have seen a few 14-18 yr olds who are athletes at young age and evaluation of their spine reveals a lot of pathology you would expect later in life.  Typically kids bounce back very quickly and conservative care is always best and works 95% of the time.

other than physical therapy and stretches, what else can i do for chronic neck pain? it causes neck stiffness, numbess/tingling and pain.

Decompression : Cervical decompression may be an option. This type of treatment involves slight relief of pressure of spine as the neck is lifted gently upward away from shoulders. Done by gravity decompression (inversion table), mechanical decompression (cervical spine home decompression), and manual decompression (pt).   Consult md prior to using this modality.

i'm having a lot of head pressure and neck pain. i've gone to physical therapy and he said i had a lot of swelling in my neck. what does this mean?

Muscle tightness: I suspect that these may be muscle tension headaches but you need an evaluation especially with imaging of your neck to be certain what is going on.

Yes: Yes, physical therapy can help with neck and back pain during pregancy.  See your obstetrician for their approval and therapy recommendations.

Get diagnosis: Next step should be visit to neurologist to evaluate cause of headaches (migraines can indeed be accompanied by neck pain!).  Do not find chiropractic to play an effective role with your constellation of symptoms, but talk to neurology about their recommendations.  Have found acupuncture to be useful in past.

TMJ disorders: Tmj disorders is an umbrella term encompassing several pain disorders of the face and jaw; most common is musculoskeletal pain. Symptoms range from headache, jaw pain, neck pain, stiffness, etc.  Consult your dentist (or an orofacial pain dentist) and your primary physician.
