Typical exam: There is typically a normal pelvic exam during the initial visit, with pap smear, cultures for infection, and a bimanual exam to evaluate the size of the uterus and pelvis.   Physicians will usually do pelvic exams (bimanual only) from 37 weeks on to check the cervix, but this isn't required, especially if you aren't contracting yet.  Other exams may be indicated if you are having problems.

No: Believe it or not ultrasounds have not been shown to positively effect outcomes in pregnancy and some argue cause more unneeded concern. Good news is that you don't need pelvic exams while pregnant. Visits are to monitor your blood pressure, the babies growth, etc. and this is done without a pelvic exam. It could be vaginal : Dryness,too forceful entry during intercourse or some small lesion at or near the cervix  which is friable Since you have had an exam  , it's probably the former

Chiropractic : Chiropractic care is safe and often effective for various pains during pregnancy. If you have found one that works with pregnant women, hang on to him/her.

Chiropractic care may not be recommended by your ob/gyn because of lack of understanding of the underlying principles. ( i really don't understand it but i'm not a chiropractor). Other reasons are liability concerns particularly because we don't understand chiropractic. In my office I am ok with chiropractic and will even suggest to women that they may seek chiropractic care when other treatments aren't working, say for example sciatica or back pain in pregnancy. It is difficult, however, to recommend a specific chiropractor.

Talk with your Dr.: Most women are able to be physically active during pregnancy (which is a good thing). However if you have a specific complication or condition which warrants inactivity or bedrest- your physician will be  able to educate you about this.

Unknown: there is no agreed-upon definition for physically active during pregnancy comma though half an hour of light exercise per day is completely safe during pregnancy and a good idea for the maintenance of a healthy weight and prevention of gestational diabetes
