Depends: In general, the less carb you take , the better off you are with diabetes. But a life totally without carb can be an unpleasant one.   As to how much, it would depend on your lifestyle (how much exercise etc) and severity of your condition and thus you need to consult a dietitian re. your diet.

45 to65% of total calories should come from carbs.So for a 2000 cals diet, you will need 225to325 grms of carbs in your daily diet
but if you have medical condition than you need to be in low carb diet.

Not sure: Of the connection but you might be constipated from where you describe the pain. Are you bloated? Pass a lot of gads? Have round, hard stools or strain to go? Sometimes when really constipated you have diarrhea because only water can pass a blockage! if it fits try MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) and start with a scoop a day and go up as needed and if you get diarrhea back doe till you are regular . Drink8 x8 oz water.
