my kids, husband & i went to a indoor play place a week ago today. 3-4days later kids and hubby got nasal congestion and cough. now i'm getting sick i think. i have a dry irritated throat and phlegm. no other symptoms. negativcovid test. cold or flu?

: More likely one of many respiratory viruses other than flu. Flu tends to come on abruptly with fever as a main symptom.

i have strep throat alot! and often get tonsil stones - i have been advised to get my tonsils out, but im worried as am 35 and have read its horrendous and a long process and i play top sport. any advice?? recommendations? please!

Medical Advice: You have been given terrific advice by a physician who has examined you and advised you of proper treatment. Your recovery will probably not be as bad as you think. Unfortunately this will disrupt your life for a very short while, and in turn will make you healthier... small price to pay. Think long term. Frequent use of antibiotics fighting off infected throats isn't good, either.

when i play sports most of the time my throat feels dry like around my right tonsil area, even if i'm hydrated & drinking water. how can i relieve it?

Gatorade gum: Exertion in sports often involves mouth breathing that causes dry mouth and throat. Try a gum that promotes salivation.

Let me explain: Knee replacement in young age have it is own problems? The joint made of certain alloys, it is artificial joints, those joint follow the law of wear and tear, so i would be careful with it.

i bruised my calf a week ago. im mostly pain free but when i flex my calf, touch it or try to run it still hurts. how long will it take to resolve and when can i get back to playing sports?

: At this stage of your injury the best way to approach it is what we call ice massage. You freeze a cup of water and you massage your calf for 15 minutes until numb. You must tear the cup to expose the ice. Then you stretch it in the morning. In the evening you stretch and then you put ice on it for 15 minutes.

YES-IF CONTACT SPORT: There is some real risk if it is a contact sport.
Any trauma to the inflammed neck artery 
could promote blood clotting or a tear in the
artery which could be life-threatening.

Your : Your symptoms as a teen could have been due to a number of factors including dehydration, heat-related illness, or deconditioning with exhaustion.  If you still get these symptoms with exercise (or at rest), you should see your doctor and prepare for an evaluation that looks at cardiovascular, neurologic, and metabolic abnormalities.  If these symptoms eventually went away, i wouldn't lose too much sleep worrying.

was hit on the left side posterior rib cage while playing sports. feels like a mild pneumothorax? i can walk and do daily activities but my overall condition has become weakened due to discomfort on lower lobe of left lung. will this heal on its own?

: If you getting better, you may give it time. It is unlikely that you have or had pneumothorax. Warm compresses may in relaxing the muscles. Start exercising as tolerated to improve your muscle strength and flexibility.

chance of catching herpes or any virus if someone accidentally scratches back of your hand by his fingernail while playing sports? (small scratch) what if i suspect that person touched his mouth some time before that? what to do with health anxiety?

: No risk for herpes from such contact. There are no easy or quick answers to effectively deal with serious anxiety, whether health related or other. If health anxiety is seriously affecting your life and impairing life happiness, professional counseling likely will be necessary. Good luck.
