Its possible: If the foot injury is on the same side as the phlebitis, it is possible. In the area of treatment, you still need an anticoagulant (aspirin, Heparin shots, coumadin) for the phlebitis and compression. Usually phlebitis resolves with treatment in 3 to 6 months. Sometimes an ultrasound helps.

Could be, but...: You should have this looked at asap. You need to make sure this is not a developing  infection.  If it is not an infection, it could be any number of inflammation problems - phlebitis being one of them. Gout or another inflammatory arthritis is a possibility as well as a skin inflammation indicating some underlying systemic problem.  Basic lab work can rule out a significant problem.

Maybe: If your doctor said it was fasciitis it might have been, but fasciitis doesn't unsuallyhave swelling. Was he treated? Your discription sounds like infecion or phlebitis. If it re-occurs maybe you should get a second opinion.

Depends on area: Superficial phlebitis is treated with heat, anti-inflammatory agents, and tincture of time.  Sometimes when infected, surgical excision is required.   It is good practice to follow a patient with superficial phlebitis of the leg with repeat ultrasound.   Deep venous thrombophlebitis is treated with anticoagulation, initially with heparin, lmwh, converting to coumadin (warfarin).

Very unusual: If you a a guy and you have redness, swelling, pain, and/or warmth of the genitals, it is far more likely that you have infection/inflammation of the structures in your scrotum other than your veins.  If you are a woman, it is possible to get phlebitis of the veins in your pelvis, but it is rare.  Externally, the veins can casue pain if they are enlarged, but phlebitis would be very rare.

Yes: The vein is inflamed and damaged. They can reoccur but more typically wax and wane. Treated is usually with warm or cold compresses, anti- inflammatory medications, and time. If not improving after several days - see your doctor.
