Sedation and seizure: Phenobarb was used as a way to comtrol seizure and sedate . Peaple with encephalitis many time are very agitated and may risk seizures there is not much use today but it was used in the past successfully. Our area dosen't see this use anymorelike we used to.

Maybe: There are some allergies that resolve as you grow older. For instance some people can get improvement in their response to certain medications as they get older, or further away from the initial exposure. This may be due to a calming of the inflammatory response as you age. However, if you were my patient i would not give you a medication that you were allergic to as the risk is too high.

More than 2 steps: Perhaps a pharmacist can chime in, but i believe that there are multiple governing bodies that require documentation of dispensation of controlled substance, including the dea, state-level agencies (e.g. Hawaii has a narcotics enforcement division), state pharmacy boards, etc. Pharmacies may also have their own internal requirements. I doubt this can be distilled down to "two steps.".

Absolutely NO!!: I hope this is not something you were thinking of trying on your own to someone you know who has a problem with seizures-- don't ever try to administer alcohol to someone who is having a true seizure--if someone is having a seizure, call 911 and let professionals treat them.

Not reliably: If the seizure is for sure due to alcohol withdrawal, this may be possible -- but the amount needed may kill the person first.  I&#x27;m sure you&#x27;ve heard of death from alcohol poisoning.  There are many other possible causes for seizures, and alcohol-induced coma is not the way to treat those either.

Inpatient care: It sounds like an intensive inpatient behavioral setting would be best. Horrible recent assault in context of a tragic family of origin with active psychotic symptoms. She needs a therapeutic setting where she is &amp; feels safe &amp; supported.

Phenobarbital: You would not be measuring Phenobarbital levels unless taking it for a specific condition, like seizure disorder.  Your doctor titrates your dose by these levels and by side effects.  Your first indicator that your level is "low" might be having a seizure -- so it's best to take your medication consistently and to check levels when your doctor feels it's time to do it.
