A culture of your throat or sputum culture will help your doctor determine the best treatment. Bronchitis: Is an inflammation in the airways but no pneumonia by chest xr. It is equated to us hearing the turbulent sounds of phlegm or inflammation called rhonchi. In all likelihood you have upper respiratory infection and with drip to the back of the throat causing a feeling of something there you just have to cough up and coughs so hard causing sometimes feeling of chest congestion.

Peritonsilar abcess: Peritonsilar abcess, lugwig angina if not treated promptly can compromise your airway and kill you. You'l l  kow because you will start drooling, have difficulty swallowing (not just sore throat), your voice may change (gooffy voice), may try to strech your neck in order to get air. Cal 911  if having any of these symptoms.
