lung function test shows normal. tb test shows negative. endoscopie test shows no gastritis or reflux. nasal endoscopie showed no anomaly. but i still have persistent cough at night and less frequently during the day. i would like to hear your advice?

Persistent cough!: There are many types of cough that can persist after a cold.  If it is worse at night it could be due to post nasal drainage which could indicate an allergy.  Is it a wheezy cough?  If so it could suggest bronchospasm.  Is it a wet cough?  This could suggest a secondary pneumonia particularly if associated with fever.  You should see a good pediatrician to check it out.

4yo w/ irritated throat but not red, sinus drainage, no stuffy nose, persistent cough, croup at night. now she has diarrhea. new virus or part of cold?

Mgt: There are several possible conditions which may be associated with these symptoms.  I would suggest monitoring her temperature. If the temperature is 101 for higher, Tylenol may be used. 
A cool air mist humidifier may help to relieve the symptoms. If there is any distress or dehydration she should go to the ED.
Nasal saline drops or mist  are useful in relieving congestion.

Many conditions: There are many possible causes including reflux, asthma and post nasal drip. More information is needed though, all three of these conditions can worsen at night.

Your : Your husband is very lucky to have you care for him.  Unfortunately, there's isn't much available over-the-counter to help w/his cough.  There's no absolute way to know whether a humidifier will help or hurt without just trying it out.  Just beware that increasing water content in the air may increase your risk for mold & mildew, too.  Anti-cough & anti-mucous over-the-counter medications can be tried but again, there's no guarantee.  Given his smoking history, i'd be worried about copd/emphysema.  He may need some sort of inhaler which is only available by prescription.  Without a doctor's visit, the only supportive care considerations are getting plenty of fluids & rest and quitting smoking completely!

did your husband ever mention why he doesn't want to go to the doctor?  From a practical perspective, there are many offices/clinics/urgent cares that are open "after hours" so your husband wouldn't have to take time off work.  Most family physicians & general internists are interested in developing a mutually respectful relationship if he'll give us a chance.  Good luck!

Dust avoid : Dust exposure at night may relieve symptoms.
Cover mattress and pillow with an additional cover, keep area clean and dust free. Try an over the counter antihistamine and please see your physician.

Possibilities: The origin of this cough could vary from poorly controlled asthma to some infectious process including whooping cough. Without more information, exam &amp; testing there is little chance to be more specific. If she is loosing sleep over this she should be seen.

It could be fluid: from congestive heart failure. Are you short of breath frequently? Are your legs swollen at the ankle? Any problems with your heart? You need to see a Dr right away and find out why you have a chronic cough.
