Glands: Mucous is typically secreted by the mucous glands in the area. If there is a tear then the glands can produce more mucous which could potentially help protect the area from further damage and therefore potentially speed up healing.

See DR: Probably easy to fix. Throw away the peroxide and neosporin as these are of no value and often cause reactions.

No other treatment: Shavers have a built in limitation for the depth of a cut they might make.  The perineum is highly vascularized and resistant to infection.  Keep the area clean and you will do well.

Best see doctor: Hard to imnagine how a toilet, cheap or not, could cause a perineal tear. Do you recall a particular injury? If not and you're just assuming an injury is the cause, you should be professionally examined. Most presumed genital ulcers due to trauma in fact have other causes, especially herpes. Don't take chances if you're not sure. Also, exam is best way to know best pain relief. Good luck!

1 st degree... : If you are talking about " perineal tear" common to childbirth.... Degree is determined by the detention of year to depth and tissues involved ( mucosa, muscles..) Typically 1 st degree is superficial and heals easy. Most commonly few sutures may be used for better cosmetical result. Prevention is sometimes " Episiotomy "- surgical cut preventing irregular , deep tear - easier to repair. .

Perineal Massage: I usually recommend that perineal massage be done after a bath or shower. Mineral oil can be used with 2 fingers in the vagina to stretch the area between the vagina and rectum.

Pure vaseline: Best way  is to apply pure vaseline several times daily.   If the tear persists, it often can be hidden hpv virus with the tear area.

Internet Medicine: I am sure you can understand but there really are limits to internet medicine. Tears in the perineum are in no way usual, normal or common.  To have symptoms for over a year makes this even more unusual.  I honestly think there is no way to help you with out a direct examination and perhaps even testing as to why your skin is not healing.  Please get to the family clinic soon for an examination.

Perineal tear: The tear did penetrate the skin and muscle, but after 3 weeks, if the area feels fairly normal to you, masturbation and orgasm should be well tolerated. However, penetration and vaginal intercourse would most likely not be tolerated for another month when full healing would have occurred. Your gynecologist can advise you best,however.

perineal area creates onion smell. do not have sti/bv and do not eat onion or garlic. i never had this problem before my son. ever since i had a 3c third degree tear it just smells of onion and my other half can smell it. i wash every single day?

: I believe the odor is caused by normal vulva bacteria interacting with normal secretions. It is not a question of poor hygiene. Try avoiding tight clothing and wear white cotton panties.
