1 st degree... : If you are talking about " perineal tear" common to childbirth.... Degree is determined by the detention of year to depth and tissues involved ( mucosa, muscles..) Typically 1 st degree is superficial and heals easy. Most commonly few sutures may be used for better cosmetical result. Prevention is sometimes " Episiotomy "- surgical cut preventing irregular , deep tear - easier to repair. .
