Accepted Answer

No: Some degree of swelling that tracks down from the shoulder to the elbow after an arthroscopic shoulder surgery is normal, but if it is quite severe I would definitely let your doctor know.

after a open acj excision when can i begin range of movement/pt exercises or pendulum exercises. i understand that the deltoid/trapezius is separated.

Depends: It depends on the soft tissue repair at the time of surgery.  Most of my patients do passive range of motion only for 6 weeks to protect the repair.

my adult neice living in bangor maine just learned that she has penicilium candida in her lungs. is that a fatal disease? its severe and she's worried

Really? : Penicillium candidatum is a mold used in making brie and camembert cheese. Hypersensitivity pneumonia might occur but infection in lung quite uncommon.

do body lice (pediculus humanus var corporis) most often lay eggs in clothing/bedding/apholstery(fabrics) where humans tend to relax at night?

is it true or false that body lice eggs on fabrics can take up to 2 weeks to hatch?

: LICE CAN OCCUR ON YOUR HAIR AND PUBIC AREAS ALSO AND LAY EGGS EVERY WHERE. THE EGGS SIX A DAY  ARE LAID BY THE FEMALE AND TAKE SIX TO NINE DAYS TO HATCH.

had saline ultrasound yesterday. radiologist struggled with peculum.used wrong size first,switched to a smaller,then rotated it to finally access my cervix.no bleeding but feel slight irritation & burning in my vagina/inside.should i be worried? thx.

No: Since the priocedure was done less that 24 hours, it's too soon for an overt vaginal infection, vaginitis. Your symptoms appear to be a result of over manipulating the speculum which may have cause some vaginal abrasions. However, if your symptoms does not resolve within the next 1-2 days then see your doctor for an evaluation.

7mm hyperintese t2 lesion. no mass effect. no enhancement. i am having some pendulum and gaze-evoked nystagmus. could the lesion be causing this and if so could it be a brain tumor such as glioma? radiologist suggest gliosis or possible ms?

There are no harmful effects other than some possible sensitivity that may be uncomfortable during sex or other activities.

is the penile frenulum usually removed during circumcision?

Not in infants: I cannot speak for the adult procedure but in newborns this structure is left alone. The effort is to remove only the foreskin that covers the glans, not intrude on any other structure. Sometimes the frenulum is not as prominent in some infants as in others.

how painful is membranous urethral stricture dilatation ?

Moderately painful: This most often done using local( Lidocaine) anesthesia in the office,  The pain also depends on the  severity of the stricture. If severe, an optical internal urethrotomy ( cutting  the stricture using a cystoscope) may be done  with  general anesthesia
