No: Almost every specialty works nights and weekends and others come in emergencies.  Some (but not all) of the specialties that work many nights/weekends in addition to em are hospital medicine, internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, ob/gyn, general surgery, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, cardiology, pulmonary/critical care, gastroenterology, and neurology.

None: Generally speaking allopathic(md) and osteopathic(do) training are similar and licensing boards, hospitals etc, recognize them as being so.  Personally speaking one of my friends in undergrad whent to osteopathic while i was in allopathic and his training was great.  Both become doctors.  It is the further training/dedication/committment that makes the quality of the doctor, not their md v do degre.

Better: They like it better. That's why they do it. I stopped working in the er 20 years ago as soon as i could afford to do so and still eat after paying my student loan payment. I love the specialty of ophthalmology. That's why I do it. The er docs love the challenge, the excitement, the chance to save lives and make a huge difference immediately.
Different strokes for different folks.

ER docs are: Trained in the entire spectrum of medical and surgical illnesses, and need to quickly assess who is in need of admission/observation and who can be sent home, with or wothout the beginning of treatment. Er docs work "shifts". Can be 8, 12, 24 or during my younger days, 36 hrs on a weekend. The shorter the shift; the fresher the doctor.

service de atendimeto movel de urgencia or samu.
It is available free of charge in hospitals.

No : Surgeons, radiologists, internal medicine and family practice doctors do. Hospitalists and anesthesiologists do also. Pediatricians and obstetricians do. Sorry to ones i left out. Being a doctor is hard work.

ER's are for for: Serious problems that may require hospital admission, and tehy are connected to one, ct's, mri's, code teams and trauma centers.  An urgent care center can deal with many less serious issues, from school physicals, sore throats, tooth and ear aches even shots for travel.  Er's cost a lot, urgent care may demand payment, but always cheaper than er.

ER docs are: Usually hospital based, fully trained medical school graduates, and generally have done er residency training. This provides them with general knowledge of all obstetric, medical, surgical, and traumatic cases, knowing what tests to order, which consultants to call, and who needs admission, and who can be released once cleared with a follow up plan.
