Clotting: By the time anyone would answer this, a fresh wound would have already clotted. The body has a complicated and incredibly interesting series of chemical reactions that initiate the clotting process. If the wound is deep, involves a blood vessel, your on an anticoagulant or you have an inherited disorder of blood clotting then a wound will not clot or take a long time to do so.

Blood derived: The liquid part of blood, called plasma, contains a number of proteins/factors essential for blood clotting.  Some of the factors can be isolated for administration to patients deficient in a given factor, e.g., factor viii for hemophilia.

Yes: Passing clots from time to time is normal.  However if you have continued very heavy periods you might want to be evaluated by a gynecologist.

Complications: Women who are prone to forming blood clots may have a hard time carrying a pregnancy. Blood clots can cause complications for the fetus because of interference with blood flow through the placenta, for example. If you have a history of blood clots and wish to get pregnant, you might consider speaking to your ob/gyn.

Can occur: This can occur without there necessarily being any significant abnormalities, but if the volume of blood or the presence of clots becomes large and persistent it might be beneficial to see a gynecologist. You could become anemic and the cause of the clots (if they persist) is worthwhile investigating. Hope these stop soon.

Risk/benefit ratio: Clot-busting drugs are used to break clots apart (e.g. Pulmonary emboli) but this depends on a number of factors.  These drugs are potent, high-dose blood thinners injected into the body so it travels all over the body, not just the site of the clot.  The danger (and reason for strict guidelines) is it can cause bleeds elsewhere like the brain. This is weighed against the severity of the clot.

Blood in vagina: When blood sits in the vagina for a while before it comes to outside it sort of congeals and forms a clot. This is normal and not a concern.
