What are plasma derived clotting products?

Blood derived: The liquid part of blood, called plasma, contains a number of proteins/factors essential for blood clotting. Some of the factors can be isolated for administration to patients deficient in a given factor, e.g., factor viii for hemophilia.

Clotting products: The many different factors needed to clot blood are contained within your plasma, the part of your blood left when the blood cells are removed. They are proteins. The actual proteins are removed from donations of plasma, and then pooled together to produce a supply of the particular clotting product needed. The plasma comes from donated blood or plasma.
