i had a colonoscopy on wednesday & it is now saturday & i am still having stomachaches is something wrong? i have had gas but some is hard to pass...

Colonoscopy problem?: Air used to inflate your colon may persist for several hours--not typically for 5 days. Your post-procedure symptoms may be due to colonoscopy-related factors: colonic or organ mechanical trauma, post-polypectomy syndrome, abdominal wall bruising from external pressure, etc.; diverticular disease; extra-intestinal problems; ibs; lots more. First step--call asap your colonoscopist ; ask his advice.

Sure.: While withdrawing the colonoscope from the cecum (first part of colon) to the rectum, the endoscopist will generally try to suction as much air as possible out of the colon, to reduce patient discomfort.  Utilizing co2 gas also helps reduce postoperative gaseous distention.

Normal vs. Healthy:: Normal means common, zero reliable relationship with healthy &amp; defined by medical industry as average to include the central 96% of common for any variable. What you describe is neither healthy nor common in most cases after colonoscopy. But it all depends on your anatomy/function before exam, what was done during exam &amp; your responses afterwards. Sounds like intestinal distension; yet not moving.

Bloated: Bloating is usually a dietary issue, and often there is nothing grossly wrong on endoscopy.  I would try an elimination diet, usually bloating is related to some degree of wheat sensitivity. Also, trying a course of probiotics may help.

Several days: Before coloonoscoopy the bowel is cleaned out with a bowel prep. L then during colonoscopy air is passed in the scope to dilate it so that the physician can examine the bowel more carefully.  All liquid is sucked out but gas in bowel persists and has to be passed.

Possible: As long as your stomach pains are not escalating, it is probably ok.  If these symptoms last more than 24 hours, are getting worse, or are accompanied by nausea and vomiting, or passage of blood per rectum, then you should seek medical attention.

: Your body is talking to you. Listen and take detailed notes. I would log every thing your eat/drink and how much you are bloating.  If certain food seems to bloat stop it and see bloating gone. If gone stop that food.

Position change: Position change can help. Warm beverages can help. Warm bath too. If fever, vomiting, severe pain, call md asap.

: Typically, it can last a few hours. It is because gas is put into the intestines to visualize everything with the scope. The more you move around, the faster you will pass this gas and feel less bloated. Best of luck to you!
