If so, the duration to pass sands and fragments disintegrated stones vary greatly from days to months depending upon the load and size of fragments. In some cases, procedures through urethra and ureter are required to remove the stuck/impacted fragments inside ureter. So, ask doc timely for individual variation and expectation.

: Your urologist will be able to monitor your progress.  If the stone was fragmented enough, you should be able to pass the stone.  The stent will act as a guide if you need to have a stone extraction.

Probably not.: Most stones 5mm or smaller will pass.  A 7mm stone could pass, but may well not pass on its own.  If you have flank pain, you may have an obstructed ureter and need to have the stone removed so you don't develop kidney damage or urinary tract infection.

i have a rather large kidney stone and it definitely wont pass. also i have no insurance. are there any alternatives to lithotripsy to break up the stone? possibly a shockwave pain therapy ultrasound machine?

Stones: Kidney stones less than 4mm pass 90% of the time, 4to6 mm 50%, and greater than 6 mm 10%.  Have you tried Flomax?  This will improve passage.  If this does not help either lithotripsy is indicated or ureteroscopy with stone removal.

Ask your MD: If you're taking tamsulosin, you should pass that fragment without surgery. 6 weeks before you should get another lithotripsy. Your urologist also may do a ureteroscopy this time for improved chances of clearing that fragment.

May be...: Dod you mean eswl or lithotripsy through urethra ot bladder up to ureter/kidney? The post-rx sand/fragment passage may behave somewhat different. The size of sand/fragment after eswl highly varies depending on stone hardness; the ones after transurethral tends to be coarser. But, not seeing sands / fragments 4 days after either may be not unusual; so, don't worry, but take a kub as post-rx f/u...
