what do i do if i was flossing, and the back part of my tooth fell out. it is very small, but it wasn't calculus or plaque. i feel no pain but am slightly freaking out?

: No need to freak out. It could be part of a filling, or part of your tooth. There may be some decay in that area. It's great that you don't have pain but that doesn't mean you don't have to have it looked at and have it fixed. Call your dentist for an appointment.

i was flossing my teeth, some some either plaque or part of my tooth came off. there's like a opening there now that i can see. no blood or pain. help?

Exam: If what came off was calculus (tartar), that's fine. If it was tooth or filling, it's something that will need attention. Best bet is to get it checked out..

while waterpik flossing, a chunk of my filling fell out. i have a gaping hole in my tooth now. how immediate do i need to address this?

Soon: Try to keep the area as clean as possible until you see your dentist. It is not an emergency as long as you are not in severe pain. Try to get to a dentist asap.

It is possible: Over time tartar that forms on teeth can chip off and feel rough. Regardless, you should see a dentist for evaluation, cleaning and preventive treatment. Hope this helps.

Flossed hard: It is hard to tell if the tooth is fine for sure. However, it is unlikely that any significant damage happens by simply pulling the floss out. Does your tooth hurt beyond some soreness?  If all seems normal, using anti-inflammatory medicine for a day (if your medical condition allows), ; be on a soft diet. If the tooth is still sore after a day, it is safer to  be checked by a dentist.

the area where i had my tooth filled at stinks when i floss there. is this normal? it's on both sides. old filings

Decay: Most likely, you have a breakdown of the filling in those areas. To what extent is unknown. The fillings need to be examined and replaced if they have open margins. You may also have calculus in those areas which will contribute to the smell.

i have a tooth with a crown. when i floss vertically i feel that there is a sizeable ledge between the crown and the tooth root. a problem?

See your dentist: Whenever there is a overhang, space or gap between the edge of a crown  and a natural tooth structure, that's an open margin. This can cause decay to occur around or under the restoration and also fum inflammation. If this is the case, crown replacement is recommended.  See your dentist for evaluation and x-rays.

i have a piece of gum hanging from the front of my tooth after i cut it while flossing about 2 years ago. it is not going down and it is still rising?

Gum swelling?: Hello, without seeing a picture of how your gums look I would guess that you got something stuck inside your gums.  If you get bleeding now when you floss then it's very likely something is lodged underneath.  You can gently floss again now to see if you can dislodge anything or try to rinse with salt water focusing on the front area.  See a dentist if there is no improvement in a day or so.

Open contact: An open interproximal contact will cause an acute stage of gingivitis that will cause pain and localized bleeding in the area due to food impaction.  Good contact between teeth will prevent or alleviate food impaction and ultimately gum pain.  If you have to floss due to food stuck after every time you eat, you definitely have open interproximal contact that needed to be close.  Call your dentist.

why do i have sensitivity on a crowned tooth when i floss or suck in cold air? the crown was placed 4wks ago. it doesn't hurt otherwise.

Have ur dentist look: It just may be that the tooth is a little sensitive after being worked on. Diamond burs cutting into teeth can be a bit traumatic. Have your dentist check all of the margins to be sure they are sealed.
