No: Obviously if a pap smear is done too aggressively, it could cause temporary changes, perhaps a bit of blood, in cervical mucus.  However, there is no intrinsic reason for a change in mucus from a pap smear.

: This sounds like the result of a biopsy, not pap smear. It doesn't show cancer or pre-cancer, but nflammation suggests cervicitis that may need attention, including STD testing if not yet done. Discuss with the doctor who did the procedure.

Check for pregnancy: After you have ruled that out you may consider other causes.  You are still a little young to be starting menopause, and there are a number of other possibilities.  See your doctor.

How old are you?: It depends how old you are. If you are over 40 then it would be good to have an EMB done to rule out cancer which is low in chance but important to rule out. If you are younger then it can be normal as long as you don't have a polyp in the cervix which your doctor would have looked for.

You may need to: check for a vaginal infection.  If there are no other symptoms, such as vaginal itching, discharge, odor, etc.  then you may be starting irregular spotting/ periods with your hormone cycle approaching menopause.  It could be very early on, or minor spotting may be a fluke.  But monitor your symptoms and your irregularity well.p

Discharge after pap: Its can be normal to have either brownish or blood discharge after a "good" pap(depends on which end of the pap your on)When delicate tissues are scraped there can be bleeding.  Please call your doctor for your results..many offices are so busy they can let results fall through the crack.  I would just want you to make sure your pap was normal.

Less than 24 hours: The cervix is prone to bleeding after a pap smear.  This blood can make its way out as a brownish discharge.  This should get better and disappear within about 24 hours.

Probably not: It is not uncommon to have brief minor bleeding after a pap smear.  It should resolve reasonably quickly.

Bleeding from Pap: smear can be delayed for up to 1 week after the procedure.  This is due to the scabbing that occurs right after the cervix experienced trauma from scraping, then once the cervical mucus returns and normal hormonal cycle increases its size again, the scabbing may loosen and cause some minor clots.  Just monitor it and make sure the brownish color discharge goes away in a week.
