No: Those are medication to prevent gastritis, if u r still having symptoms it could be u r not uncontrolled with those ppi or it could be more serious like an ulcer, a bleed, an infection, etc.  if u haven't seen ur doctor for it, I suggest u do

Diet is key: Be sure to avoid alcohol and caffeine as well as tobacco. Avoid all irritating foods like spicy or greasy items, and raw onion or garlic. Temporarily avoid acidic foods containing tomatoes and citrus foods. Also, I would avoid raw veggies and cold drinks/foods for the time being. Make sure you chew your food well. Small regular meals help, too.

i get recurrent upper intestine bloating & inflammation due to hyperacidity. constipation at times also adds up to the overall discomfort. doctor says gastritis & prescibe pantoprazole which does fix it but is there any better medicine for this?

: H. pylori needs to be ruled out as the cause of your gastritis. If you have this condition, you need to be treated with a combined regimen for 2 weeks. Without H. pylori, you can take pantoprazole for 2 months then stop and pay attention to foods which trigger the pain.  Active life, exercise, adequate fluid intake, high fiber foods, +/- stool softener are the answers for fighting constipation.

Generally yes...: Pantoprazole (generic protonix) is a member of the class of agents known as "proton pump inhibitors" (ppi's).  Others in the class include: Prilosec (omeprazole), Prevacid (lansoprazole), aciphex, nexium, dexilant, (dexlansoprazole) zegerid.  All will block acid production in the stomach.  Protonix works if your gastritis is peptic (e.g. Acid-mediated) and not related to bile injury, caustic ingestion, infection.

Hi,: Gastritis is inflammation of inside lining (mucosa) of stomach. It could be from any reason - high acid production and disruption of mucosal defense barrier. Mostly from NSAIDS, steroid, alcohol, smoking or stress. Protonix (pantoprazole) is a prescription drug - PPI (proton pump inhibitor - which reduce acid secretion in stomach and helps to heal mucosal inflammation.

&lt; 6 weeks.: Assuming there's no persistent cause for the gastritis, such as a culprit medication like aspirin being concurrently used, we assume that gastritis can be healed, meaning by symptoms and endoscopic evidence, between four to six weeks at the most.  You may notice relief of symptoms as early as within the first week of use, though.

Some needs that: Protonix (pantoprazole) is often used as a once a day medication, but can be more effective if used twice daily--because it has a very short half-life of about 1 hour. So taking it at breakfast will not provide much help by dinner hours. So, if the gastritis is significant, twice daily dosing is often advisable. Toxicity is very rare with 2x/day dosing. Consult doc. Good luck.

Ford v Chevy v Dodge: So Pantoprazole didn't work for you. How about omeprazole, esomprazole, lansoprazole, dexlansoprazole, rabeprazole, etc. Our perhaps it's not simple gastritis but h pylori positive peptic ulcer disease that requires a course of fda approved antibiotics. You should also consider egd (esophagoduodenoscopy) so gastroenterologist can look inside esophagus & stomach for cause of pain.
