What is the ?: Hereditary pancreatitis is a real problem. Related to the same genes as in cystic fibrosis. Ultimately structural changes in the pancreas lead to daily pain without enzyme rise. Avoid narcotics. See about celiac plexus block. If enzymes still go up, consider non-encapsulated pancreatic enzymes (high- dose) with every meal (and acid suppression) to minimize pain. Not likely: It sounds like you had some issues, maybe abdominal pain sometime in May, when you had your pancreatic enzymes checked, but you no longer have pain now. Based on the minimal elevation of your enzymes even in May I doubt their origin was pancreatic even then.

acute pancreatitis 3 years ago and havent had a drop of alch. since diagnosis. recently went i got tests on my pancreas and my lipase came back 13 based on 16-63 range & amylase came back 39 in 2-125 range. looking for 2nd opinion on results?

High amylase: In pancreatitis amylase and lipase are both elevated more than three times the normal level, but amylase can be elevated without having pancreatitis.It can be elevated in cholicystitis, kidney failure, tumors of salivary glands, prostate, lung and ovaries.

i had blood work done due to 1.4 cm pancreatic lesion. a/g ratio is 0.9 low and amylase 24 low. what could it mean?

Lab values: A low amylase has no clinical significance. Reasons for a low A/G ratio include hypoalbuminemia and hypergammaglobulinemia. But the lesion needs follow up, first with MRCP and then endoscopic ultrasound with possible fine needle aspiration.

Chronic pancreatitis: Chronic pancreatitis is hallmarked by problems absorbing fats (greasy, floating stools, sometimes gray or chalky). Problems with sugar metabolism come later as more of the pancreas is damaged. Chronic pancreatitis is further characterized less by low amylase production and more with lack of Insulin production and associated problems with glucagon.

Pancreatic mass: I would suggest you see a gastroenterologist who can perform an ultrasound guided endoscopic FNA (fine needle aspirate) of this mass.  You will not have peace of mind until you get a diagnosis.  Once you get a diagnosis you can make and educated decision on treatment.
