It may hurt, but...: There is a small piece of nail still embedded in the corner. You need to get that out. If you can't get it out on your own, a doctor can. Sometimes this can be done without numbing the finger, but often, anesthesia is necessary. If it is a chronic condition, there is a very successful surgery that can be done to permanently correct the problem.

Lymphangitis: It sounds like you have lymphangitis or tracking from your infected finger.  Please see a doctor today to get some antibiotics

Could be a...: ...Possible exposure to an environmental irritant (such as ivy, oak, liquid detergents, soaps or other chemicals). Rarely mercury exposure can cause a painful rash to hands or feet. Consider psoriasis or other autoimmune conditions if associated with fever, a rash or joint pain/swelling. If recent or concurrent illness, consider staph or strep infections. See your doctor for a complete evaluation!

Too short.: Most ingrown nails are a direct consequence to inappropriate trimming of the nails. Cutting the nails too short is a typical finding when treating patients with ingrown nails. I suggest you begin there.

the roof of my mouth ( back near my throat , on top ) got cut by a finger nail and has now turned white and is very painful , is this a sign of infect?

Possibly: You would need to be physically examined by your Dentist for an accurate diagnosis.  If infected, antibiotics may be necessary.  If just normal healing of a traumatized area, should get better in a few days.  If it has been longer than 48-72 hours since the tissue was injured and it is not getting better, see your Dentist.

You can get some: relief my soaking the finger in hot water that is not too hot to be uncomfortable, 15 minutes at a time a few times a day..  OCT pain relievers may help as well.  If it gets worse or you note pus under the fingernail, please see a doctor.  Dr. Anne.

Myxoid Cyst or other: Without a picture is very hard to judge what this lesion may be. The leading contender is that clipping the males have nothing to do with the problem, but other diagnoses need to discuss. There is a problem called myxoid cyst which is a mucous cyst below the near and of the nail. Another but possibly even more important diagnosis is that there is a felon near your nail. A felon in regard to the ma.

i cut my pinkie finger yesterday at the edge of my finger nail with a knife preparing ribs. i got it to stop bleeding and we put on a butterfly. not sure if i should have got stitches.  ?

Depends: Depends on the size and depth of the wound. Usually a cut such as you describe is too small for stitches and does well with a tight bandage. Lubricate (vaseline, not bacitracin), rinse in water, and apply a fresh bandage at least once a day.
