the outside of my foot on the bone is extremely painful?

Many possibilities: Foot pain could be due to different reasons, of which may include: trauma (fracture, tendon or ligamentous tear, arthritis), infection, metabolic conditions (gout) musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality, or neurologic conditions (neuropathy). A thorough history and physical exam and possibly laboratory and radiology exams could determine the cause.  If symptoms persist get it evaluated.

A Cortisone: injection might be worth a "try" HOWEVER it is likely that removal is the definitive treatment.

Sounds like: Your referring to the fifth metatarsal base, perhaps you have peroneal tendonitis.

Foot pain: This clearly should have resolved it been over one month. A fracture could certainly be present. However, i would be more concerned if you have crps. Please see you md.

Arthritis: If you did not have an injury it may be arthritis or some other type of arthropathy such as gout.  You should see a physician and have an x-ray and exam to get a clear diagnosis.

i fractured a bone in my foot three months ago had an airboot and crutches. is it normal for it still to be  painful at times after walking a good bit?

Not unusual: Foot injuries can take a long time to heal and some discomfort with much activity can persist fora long time (6 months or more). It it is restricting you, consult the person who cared for the injury (or get a second opinion). Many things can influence the outcome.
