i have pain on front of hip,down thigh&across top of foot.its worse when sitting. i have scs for l5s1 herniation&sciatica that works well but this is new pain.could this be new impingment or something else?

Get evaluated: Thigh pain could have multiple causes including trauma, nerve compression, vascular disease, and even be medication related. A thorough physical and possibly diagnostic imaging will be necessary to help you find out what's going on and how to treat it.

Hard to say: The nerves at L5 and S1 travel down the back and not the front of the thigh, so it may not be related to the surgeon.  Problems in the hip joint can cause anterior thigh pain, as can inflamed lymph nodes among other possible causes.  I would schedule a fu appointment with your surgeon and he will likely be able to determine the cause.

what causes intermittent front left thigh pain. all tests came out negative (mri, x-ray , neuro test). told it might be muscular-skeletal .?

Let me explain: Thigh pain usually come either from knee or from the hip area, some time could come from  a disc in the lumber are. Did they take x-ray of the knee and the hip. Let me know please.

Neural irritation: There are several causes of low back pain and thigh pain.  Problems with the hip joint can often cause back/buttock pain that radiates to the groin and thigh.  Irriation to the lumbar nerve roots in the lower back can also cause leg pain.  Thigh pain is often seen with irritation to the l2, l3, and/or occasionally L4 nerve roots.

Orthopedic issue?: Need more info, but sounds musculoskeletal. Would start by seeing your doctor. He may suggest x-rays especially if there was some trauma. Then, ? Orthopedics consult.

Perhaps: there was a specific question asked by the referring provider - and the CT MRI was normal for that. However, I am uncertain.

Get X-ray if...: Sounds like a contusion to your thigh. ( bruise). If you are able to walk and weight bear on that side a fractured femur( thigh bone)extremely unlikely. Contusions to kneecap( prepatellar bursitis ) is very common w/ your mechanism of injury and can refer pain proximally . So are thigh contusions. 43 years old, lower back pain, front of thigh pain, difficulty moving and lower spine isnt straight. what could it be? is it serious? 1week already

Could be: new onset low back pain w/pain in the thigh and difficulty straightening lower spine could be a sign of a nerve root issue and should be checked out w/o delay.  This could also be musculoskeletal only and could even be a GI issue masquerading as a neurologic problem.  In any event.  Don't delay.  See the dr quick.
