Several Rxs!: Avoid narcotics, if possible. You should try a full dose of an nsaid, if possible! other options are cymbalta (duloxetine). I have had very good results with it!  it works for many types of arthritis, as well as neuropathy & is not controlled substance. Finally, inflammation should be r/o by getting a crp!

All : All of these medications have their side effects and different people react differently to these drugs. Lyrica (pregabalin) and Neurontin being sister molecules have somewhat similar side effect profile, though. In my practice, most of my patients have been able to tolerate all these medications ok in most cases.

See neurologist: Other conditions (or medications like amitriptyline) can contribute to neuropathy. Kidney disease, diabetes, vitamin deficiency (or toxicity in the case of vitamin b6 toxicity)  infections and thyroid disease might need to be adressed in addition to other physical issues causing nerve compression or traction (tarsal tunnel syndrome).  This problem usually requires a good work up.

Could be, but....: It may be entirely separate. Discuss this w/ Dr and perhaps have exam to find other basis. Pain is hard to manage, but you can learn skills. Skills are better than pills! Be patient  and brave and work together w/ Dr to feel safe.

Yes: There are a number of alternatives. Indeed, weight gain is a common problem with olazapine; and while it may facilitate the analgesia of other medicines, olanzapine is usually not considered to have a direct effect on nerve pain.  So, you need to talk this over with your prescriber.

had success with nerve block for hip,back,groin pain. now on lyrica (pregabalin). what are issues with long term use and could mri help identify source of pain?

Possibilities..: Some of the side effects of longer term use of Lyrica (pregabalin) are weight gain, blurred vision, elevation in a muscle enzyme called creatine kinase, decrease in platelet counts,  and difficulty in concentration and attention, but not everyone experiences these. Also, the longer you are on it, the more important it is to do a controlled taper to come off it, if you ever decide to do so. Yes, MRI could help.

i am on endep 25mg for pain and having constant nightmares is it normal its helping with the pain.  i cant take lyrica (pregabalin).

Go back to PCP.: While Endep (Amitriptyline) helps with your pain, one of the side-effects include nightmares and vivid dreams which can be very distressing. Please go back to your doctor and see if he can prescribe something else.
