Meralgia: Possibly, surgical positioning, or laying on your side postoperatively, may have compressed a sensory nerve, the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. (meralgia paresthetica).  This may well reverse over a few weeks.  Other possibilities maybe hip, low back issues, etc.  Often a simple exam demonstrates what has occurred.

Possible infection: A large tender lump like that could be due to trauma or infection. I suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible.  If you develop a fever, you might want to go to urgent care or an emergency department. Draw a line around the lump with a marker to monitor its size. If it's rapidly getting larger, you need to go to the er. Good luck.

Go to ER: It sounds like you need to visit an orthopaedic surgeon for a physical exam. Your diagnosis depends on the spot of the pain and the mechanism of any injuries you may have sustained. What kind of physical activity you have been doing, including any trauma, will help lead to the diagnosis, however, a physical exam is the best diagnostic tool. With pain that severe, I would seek immediate care.

?Hernia ?Back Disc: Sometimes small hernias in the groin will push on nerves very early, before you can feel a lump, and cause the kind of pain that you're describing.  Another possibility is a herniated disc in your back, pressing on the nerves to go to these areas.  You need to see a physician to sort this out, may need x-rays, and perhaps even a referral to a specialist.  Good luck and get well soon!

i am experiencing a muscle like pain in my left upper/outer thigh when i tilt my head back, walk barefoot and sometimes when sitting. i don't remember injuring my leg and i'm very active. am i just getting old? i have spent a lot of time outside?

: It is difficult to know what that is without examining it but it could be a pulled muscle from all your activity. If so, it should begin to feel better in a few days. If it does not improve in a few days, then have a doctor examine it. You could try either heat or cold, whichever makes it feel better. You could take either acetaminophen or ibuprofen-ibuprofen is anti-inflammatory. Good luck!

The pain in: your right tigh could be due to due to minor injury or inflammation to tissues in your upper, outer thigh area.(Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome) or compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (meralgia paresthetica). Pain in your chest above breast could be due to a costochondritis or inercostal neuritis or pleuresy. See your doctor. In the mean time take Ibuprofen for pain.

See Dr., and then...: Helpful weight loss diets have natural foods that take time to chew but contain few calories. Examples include carrots, celery, and iceberg lettuce (little/no salad dressing). When shopping for fruits, buy small ones no bigger than a tennis ball, because fruits have sugar. Drinks without calories include water and green tea. A calorie is a calorie, but surely avoid sugar & simple starch calories.

Diet: I hate to repeat myself but diet is largely the reason you lose weight.  Calories in versus calories out.  In addition a generalized workout of walking, hiking, stair stepping in a stadium are excellent ways to develop the muscles of your lower extremities.

Lunges, wall sits: Lunges done properly are excellent for the thigh muscles.  Make sure a trainer or similar per with knowledge shows you how to do them because if done incorrectly they can harm your knees.

Wall sits are also very good for working your thighs.  Very difficult but continue to do these and you will gradually increase the amount of time that you can sustain the wall sit.
