Yes: Sciatica just means leg pain.  Most patients who have a ruptured disc causing leg pain will complain more about their pain the leg rather than the back.
Not all ruptured discs need surgery, however.  It depends on the severity of your symptoms, weakness and improvement that you are experiencing.

check if you are a flat foot person
you need to see a podiatry anf figure out if you have bad arches in your foot and in that case a special shoe and supportive arch  can help you a lot.

Hip and knee: Consider referred nerve pain from spine; also strain, joint effusion, clot, or vascular issue.

Yes: All the symptoms you are referring to are consistent with Sciatica. See your doctor. I really like Physical Therapy for  sciatica. You may want to consider this as well, but ask your doctor what is the best course of treatment.

Not certain not rela (carisoprodol): The  bruises are not related to the lower  back pain. I would  suspect  there is  another  explanation. Ask your physician.

i have low back pain & down the back of my lt leg to my knee. an mri showed occult sacral meningocele. could this be the cause?

These typically are: Incidental or accidental findings on some patients' mri's as they occur usually without any symptoms except in older patients with bone density loss and when large can cause bone erosion sometimes leading to a sacral fracture but otherwise of no consequence and most likely unrelated to your symptoms.  See a spine specialist for a specific evaluation.

Radiculopathy: Most likely this pain represent lumbar radiculopathy, depending on the length of the system, you either can start physical therapy or see a pain specialist in your area.

Lumbar disk disease: This is the approximate distribution of a sciatica type syndrome. If you have a computer go to google and type in dermatome map. If you look at the dermatome MAP you can see the distribution of where the nerves come from the supply the specific areas mentioned.
If this is that symptomatic you probably need to go in and see your doctor and get a MRI of the lumbar spine for further evaluation.
