Probably not cancer: Given those set of symptoms, would think more about GI origin and musculoskeletal, but definitely should be evaluated further. 
A ct of chest would rule out or rule in lung pathology which may be considered.

Need physical exam: By a physician. It could be pain in the constantly strained trapezius muscle due to poor posture at your workplace or it could be a nerve problem due to disk or bone degeneration in the neck. You would need imaging like x-ray and possibly an MRI if your doctor suspects #2.

had neck fusion in 2009.  i now have numbness in shoulder and neck pain.  can't lift my head in bed either.  what's wrong?

See your doctor: You need a re evaluation, the symptoms you are experiencing and may suggest that you need something done quickly before the damage possibly becomes permanent. Please see you neurologist or neurosurgeon for an assessment.

Muscle spasm.  : Absent injury, of which you made no mention, is probably muscle spasm from awkward neck posture while sleeping.  Is common in people in thirties and in springtime for some reason.  Some think is from cold air coursing over neck while sleeping.  Use heating pad while awake to relax neck muscles.  Wear a turtleneck to bed.  If continues see an osteopath.

Muscle spasm?: Sometimes a strained muscle or tension can cause neck pain that radiates to the head.  This can make you feel lightheaded.  Try moist heat to the area, take Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen.  If it gets worse or does not improve in a couple of days, see a doctor .

pinched nerve: Sounds like you have a pinched nerve due to arthritis in your cervical spine. If rest and anti inflamatories do not work, see your doctor for a picture of your c spine.

i was in an angled head on collision struck on my side by a vehicle going approximately 35 mph one week ago. i have intermittent neck pain that shoots down my shoulder and up my head. should i keep ignoring this?

: Absolutely not, please go and get it checked out carefully. Pain is a warning sign that should not be ignored. Let you doctor take a look and then you will know better how to deal with the situation. It may be that you have twisted something and just need a little physical therapy.  Get Checked.

Head and neck pain: Hard to say without examination. Some possibilities are folliculitis in the scalp or sebaceous cyst, shoulder neck pain most probably musculo skeletal pain. Have it examined to get more help

ER for CT/xrays: If you experienced unconsciousness even for a brief interval, it would be best to be seen by a physician right away. You may need a head CT to rule out trauma-related problems such as bleeding and swelling. At the ER, they can also prescribe pain medications as necessary. It must have been a significant blow to the head to cause neck, shoulder, and spine pain, too.
